DESCRIPTION:HAMC will join the 10th Grade CAMP Students at this year’s Wreaths Across America. \nThere is no need to register individually or formally check-in; just arrive. \nParking is very limited parking at the cemetery. The organizers strongly suggest that volunteers park at Greenspoint Mall and take the free shuttle. \nSchedule: \n\n9:30 a.m. Arrive at Greenspoint Mall – Please allow ample time for loading the shuttle bus\, traveling to the cemetery and walking to the ceremony location.\n10:30 am Shuttle bus arrives at cemetery – Meet fellow Aggie Volunteers at the Hemi Cycle.\n11:00 a.m. Ceremony begins – See schedule on the Wreaths Across America website: https://waahouston.com/wreath-day-info/\n\nBe sure to dress appropriately for the weather and wear close-toed comfortable shoes. \nPlease contact Steve Loomis ’75 with any questions at steveloomis75@gmail.com. \nLearn more about Wreaths Across America here: https://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org

DESCRIPTION:Flags for Fallen Vets \nOn the day before Memorial Day the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of other volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetary. No matter the weather\, all flags go out or none. The following Saturday\, rain or shine\, volunteers return to recover the flags\, clean and store them. \nThis year’s Flag Recovery will take place on: \nDate: Saturday\, June 5 \nTime: 9:00 a.m. – Noon (approximately) \nLocation: Houston National Cemetery\, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston\, TX 77038. \nWe will meet and start at Sections U/U1’U2 (at the back of cemetery) CLICK HERE to link to the Houston National Cemetery site and click on “Cemetary Map” on the right side of the page. \nAdditional Information: Please wear your Maroon and White and bring a 5 gallon buckets (or something similar to collect flags)\, rags\, folding or camp chair and water. There is currently a chance of rain\, so please check the forecast and plan accordingly. \nTo join us for this special morning of service please contact Jim Thorpe ’78 at thorpejim@comcast.net or 713-249-4678 by Thursday\, June 3. \nIf you cannot participate in person\, but would still like to help\, please consider contributing to Flagsforfallenvets.com for the Houston National Cemetery. Thank you to everyone who is will be helping with this special day of service. We are still in need of volunteers for Flag Recovery on Saturday\, June 5 (details below). \nFlag Placement: On the day before Memorial Day the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of other volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetary. After initial flag placement\, a special group of Ags will place a small ATM flag at each grave site. \nIf you cannot participate in person that day\, but would still like to help\, please consider contributing to Flagsforfallenvets.com for the Houston National Cemetery.
