DESCRIPTION:The Houston Aggie Volunteers have been asked to aid with a massive distribution of back-to-school supplies and food boxes on Saturday\, August 14\, 2021\, at NRG – Yellow Lot. \nMorning Shift*: 7:00 a.m. – Noon \nAfternoon Shift: 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. \nWe have promised Mayor Turner and the Houston Food Bank that we can cover two distribution tents and need 24 Aggie Volunteers to serve at the tents. Friends\, Family\, Neigbors are all welcome–teens 15 and older can volunteer with a chaperone. \nThis event is OUTDOORS and will involve lifting boxes of food and school supplies throughout the shift. \nTo Volunteer: RSVP by Tuesday\, August 10 to William Wade ’73 wvwade@airmail.net. \nThere will be a short webinar for volunteers on the evening of August 11. \nAll first time volunteers receive one of our coveted and stylish HAMC Volunteer t-shirts. \nWe understand that this volunteer opportunity is not for everyone–if you are intersted in helping out at one of our Houston Food Bank warehouse volunteer days the next one is Saturday\, August 21. \n*Morning Shift may already be filled by other organizations–most Aggie volunteers will be needed in the afternoon.

DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: There are two volunteer shifts\, volunteers can choose to attend one or both. See times below. Also\, there is 100% chance of rain forecasted\, please dress accordingly\, volunteers will be working outside. Parking will now be in the PURPLE lot (across McNee from the Yellow lot) – follow the Volunteer Parking signs\, then look for the A&M tents after you park. \n1st Shift: 6:30-11:00 a.m.\n2nd Shift: 10:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. \nThe Houston Food Bank and the Houston Fire Department are partnering together on Saturday\, December 19 for a special holiday distribution of food and toys and they need the Houston Aggie Volunteers to help out! \nVolunteers are needed from  6:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. and will receive an orientation. \nVolunteer details: Volunteers must be 15 years or older and most volunteers will be expected to lift 25-30 pounds repetitively. If you are unable to load the food items\, there are many other volunteer roles as well\, so don’t hesitate to come out. Volunteers should wear (weather appropriate) A&M gear and bring a mask\, work gloves\, a hat\, sunscreen\, and small cutting knife. A snack and lunch are provided. Volunteers will receive a free HAMC volunteer t-shirt. \nAll CDC protocols will be followed\, including taking of temperatures.  \nParking Information: Traffic is expected to be very heavy. Avoid the big intersection at South Main and Loop 610S. Volunteer parking in the Yellow Lot is off of McNee Street\, there are signs indicating volunteer parking\, then walk to the small group of tents on the right. His phone # is 832-228-5430.\nVolunteers should meet at the Yellow lot off of South Main (McNee exit) at 8 am. Please take the designated “volunteer” exit and NOT the exit where there will be a long line of cars lining up early. If attending\, please wear comfortable clothing\, tennis shoes (no open-toed shoes)\, hats\, a mask\, and sunscreen. ALL work will be done outdoors. HFB will be providing a “cool-down” tent. Please wear maroon so William can find you. There are 12-16 large tents where food is distributed\, and each tent requires 10-12 people to staff.\nWith cleanup time\, volunteers are done by 1:30 pm.\nKids aged 15+\, with a parent\, can volunteer. Strict CDC protocols are followed. SUMMARY:20-Year Bonfire Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:Early morning on November 18\, the 20th anniversary of the fall of the 1999 bonfire will occur. We are encouraging Houston Aggies to gather informally on Sunday afternoon (November 17) at 5pm at Karbach Brewery Biergarten (just off of 290 and 610N at 2032 Karbach). The ceremonies will start at 5:30 pm and should finish within 30 minutes. Please bring a white or maroon candle and a lighter.
