Wear your Aggie gear and please grab any Longhorns and any other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Tuesday. \nWhen you arrive look for William Wade ’73 who will be fully decked out in Aggie gear including a 12th Man towel. \nWe currently have two shifts available on first Tuesdays: \nMorning Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nAfternoon Shift: 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. \nEvening Shift: 6-9:00 p.m. \nDon’t forget that this can be used toward volunteering community service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. By registering in the Food Bank’s system\, the hours can be tracked throughout the year and downloaded at any time or pickup the certificate at the end of each shift before you leave. \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) and friends are welcome. Wear your Aggie gear and please grab any Longhorns and any other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Tuesday. \nWhen you arrive look for William Wade ’73 who will be fully decked out in Aggie gear including a 12th Man towel. \nWe currently have two shifts available on first Tuesdays: \nMorning Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nAfternoon Shift: 1:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. \nEvening Shift: 6-9:00 p.m. \nDon’t forget that this can be used toward volunteering community service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. So please grab any Longhorns and any other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Saturday morning. \nAggie Volunteer Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nPlease wear Aggie shirts\, hats\, etc so we can find you more easily! Upon arrival\, look for William Wade ’73\, one of our coordinators\, who will be decked out in aggie gear\, including a 12th Man towel. All first-time volunteers receive one of our coveted and stylish Houston Aggie Volunteers t-shirts. \nDon’t forget that this can be used toward volunteering community service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. Volunteer jobs vary in size and scope\, but the vast majority of the work is done in air-conditioned areas and DOES NOT involve substantial lifting. People with all levels of physical ability are welcome \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) and friends are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Flags for Fallen Vets \nOn the day before Memorial Day the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of other volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetary. No matter the weather\, all flags go out or none. The following Saturday\, rain or shine\, volunteers return to recover the flags\, clean and store them. \nThis year’s Flag Recovery will take place on: \nDate: Saturday\, June 5 \nTime: 9:00 a.m. – Noon (approximately) \nLocation: Houston National Cemetery\, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston\, TX 77038. \nWe will meet and start at Sections U/U1’U2 (at the back of cemetery) CLICK HERE to link to the Houston National Cemetery site and click on “Cemetary Map” on the right side of the page. \nAdditional Information: Please wear your Maroon and White and bring a 5 gallon buckets (or something similar to collect flags)\, rags\, folding or camp chair and water. There is currently a chance of rain\, so please check the forecast and plan accordingly. \nTo join us for this special morning of service please contact Jim Thorpe ’78 at thorpejim@comcast.net or 713-249-4678 by Thursday\, June 3. \nIf you cannot participate in person\, but would still like to help\, please consider contributing to Flagsforfallenvets.com for the Houston National Cemetery. We are still in need of volunteers for Flag Recovery on Saturday\, June 5 (details below). \nFlag Placement: On the day before Memorial Day the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of other volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetary. No matter the weather\, all flags go out or none. \nThis year’s Flag Placement will take place on: \nDate: Sunday\, May 30 \nLocation: Houston National Cemetery\, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston\, TX 77038. \nWe will meet and start at Sections U/U1’U2 (at the back of cemetery) CLICK HERE to link to the Houston National Cemetery site and click on “Cemetary Map” on the right side of the page. \nArrival Time: 8:00 a.m. \nFlag Placement: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. (approximately) \nAdditional Information: Please wear your Maroon and White\, bring TOOLS that can make a hole in the ground (e.g. Phillips head #3 screwdriver\, or any rod the diameter of your little finger) and make sure to bring your water. \nTo join us for this special morning of service please contact Jim Thorpe ’78 at thorpejim@comcast.net by Friday\, May 28. \nFlag Recovery: Saturday\, June 5 @ 9:00 a.m. (please let Jim know if you’d like to volunteer with effort as well) \nSpecial note: There are 27 Aggies interned at this Cemetery. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: There are two volunteer shifts\, volunteers can choose to attend one or both. See times below. Parking will now be in the PURPLE lot (across McNee from the Yellow lot) – follow the Volunteer Parking signs\, then look for the A&M tents after you park. \n1st Shift: 6:30-11:00 a.m.\n2nd Shift: 10:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m. \nThe Houston Food Bank and the Houston Fire Department are partnering together on Saturday\, December 19 for a special holiday distribution of food and toys and they need the Houston Aggie Volunteers to help out! \nVolunteers are needed from  6:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. and will receive an orientation. \nVolunteer details: Volunteers must be 15 years or older and most volunteers will be expected to lift 25-30 pounds repetitively. If you are unable to load the food items\, there are many other volunteer roles as well\, so don’t hesitate to come out. Volunteers should wear (weather appropriate) A&M gear and bring a mask\, work gloves\, a hat\, sunscreen\, and small cutting knife. A snack and lunch are provided. Volunteers will receive a free HAMC volunteer t-shirt. \nAll CDC protocols will be followed\, including taking of temperatures.  \nParking Information: Traffic is expected to be very heavy. Avoid the big intersection at South Main and Loop 610S. Volunteer parking in the Yellow Lot is off of McNee Street\, there are signs indicating volunteer parking\, then walk to the small group of tents on the right.
