DESCRIPTION:Flags for Fallen Vets \nOn the day before Memorial Day\, rain or shine\, the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetery. The following Saturday\, rain or shine\, we return to recover the flags\, clean and store them. \nFlag Placement – Sunday\, May 26th \nArrival Time: 8:00 a.m. \nFlag Placement: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. (approximately) \nLocation: Houston National Cemetery\, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston\, TX 77038 \nWe will meet and start at Sections U/U1/U2 (at the back of cemetery). \nAdditional Information: Please wear Maroon and White and bring TOOLS that can make a hole in the ground (e.g. Phillips head #3 screwdriver\, or any rod the diameter of your little finger). Also be sure to bring WATER to stay hydrated in the heat. \nHAMC has 40 volunteer slots to fill for this year’s Flag Placement. To RSVP and receive a map\, please contact Jim Thorpe ’78 at thorpejim@comcast.net by Thursday\, May 23rd. \n  \nFlag Recovery – Saturday\, June 1st \nFlag Recovery: Saturday\, June 1st @ 8:00 a.m. \nContact Jim Thorpe ’78 at thorpejim@comcast.net if you’d like to volunteer with our effort to recover the flags\, clean and store them. \n  \nSpecial note: There are 27 Aggies interned at this Cemetery. After initial flag placement\, a special group of Aggies will place a small Texas A&M flag at each grave site. \n  \n** If you cannot participate in person\, but would still like to help\, consider contributing to Flagsforfallenvets.com for the Houston National Cemetery. Donations help resupply flags\, and cover transportation and storage. In the comments section\, note that you are an Aggie with the Houston A&M Club. Any donation amount helps.
