DESCRIPTION:AGE REQUIREMENTS at the Warehouse\, 6 years old chaperoned\, 15 years old unchaperoned. \nCome join us the First Tuesday of each month at the Houston Food Bank\, where we will be working on various projects\, such as assembling community food boxes and back pack buddy bags. Anyone that wants to join us is welcome. So please grab any Longhorns and any other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Tuesday night. \nDon’t forget that this can be used toward volunteering community service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. By registering in the Food Bank’s system\, the hours can be tracked throughout the year and downloaded at any time or pickup the a certificate at the end of each shift before you leave. \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) and friends are welcome. Since it is a warehouse environment\, everyone must wear closed-toe shoes (no sling-backs)\, long shorts (to the knee) or pants\, and no low cut tops (OSHA regulations). If you would like to sign up or have questions\, please contact Jim Thorpe ’78.  Click here for more information on the Food Bank. \nDirections to location: Take I-10 east\, exit 774\, Gellhorn Dr (after McCarty St\, before 610 East Loop).  U-turn to feeder road heading west.  Turn right on Portwall St (green Houston Food Bank sign)\, turn right into parking lot in front of light green building (same area as HFB trucks and loading docks).  Park at the far end of the lot\, by the main entrance. \nRegister with the Houston Food Bank website for this shift by clicking here.  (Be save to save the information for future registration). \nEvery Adult must register in their system before volunteering.  Please share this link with adult volunteers in order to register with our group. \nMinors (6 to 15 years old) will need a minor waiver form. SUMMARY:TOUCHDOWN CLUB OF HOUSTON GOLF TOURNAMENT HONORING JACOB GREEN
DESCRIPTION:Former Texas A&M All-American Jacob Green will be honored with a golf tournament for his 2019 induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. The Touchdown Club of Houston event is sponsored by Opportune and Montelongo’s Fine Jewelry\, and will be at 10 a.m.\, Thurs.\, June 6\, at Wildcat Golf Club\, 12000 Almeda Road. Cost is $1\,400 per foursome. \nEach foursome will have an A&M Hall of Famer play with them for five players in each group. \nThere will be a 4 p.m. reception after the golf tournament at the Bayou City Event Center\, 9401 Knight Road\, about 10 minutes from Wildcat\, to meet Green and the other A&M Hall of Famers\, and get autographs. You do not have to play golf to attend the reception. Cost for the reception is $50 per person. The reception will be set up like a football tailgate\, where there will be tables with BBQ\, fried chicken\, beer\, alcohol\, oysters\, Mexican food\, Blue Bell ice cream\, and so on.  You will be able to talk to the Hall of Fame players at the reception and get their autographs\, again\, even if you do not play in the golf tournament. \nYou do not have to be a member of the TD Club to attend.
