DESCRIPTION:Come join us the Second Tuesday of each month at the Houston Food Bank\, where we will be working on various projects\, such as assembling community food boxes and back pack buddy bags. Anyone that wants to join is welcome. Wear your Aggie gear and bring any Longhorns\, other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Tuesday. \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) are welcome. Age Requirements at the warehouse are 6 years old chaperoned\, 15 years old unchaperoned. \nWhen you arrive look for William Wade ’73 who will be fully decked out in Aggie gear including a 12th Man towel. \nWe currently have three shifts available on the 2nd Tuesday: \nMorning Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nAfternoon Shift: 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. \nEvening Shift: 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. \nDon’t forget\, this can be used toward volunteering service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. By registering in the Food Bank’s system\, the hours can be tracked throughout the year and downloaded at any time or pickup the certificate at the end of each shift before you leave. \nNote: As this is a warehouse environment\, everyone must wear closed-toe shoes (no sling-backs)\, long shorts (to the knee) or pants\, and no low cut tops (OSHA regulations). If you have questions\, please contact William Wade ’73.  Click here for more information on the Food Bank. \nDirections: Take I-10 east\, exit 774\, Gellhorn Dr (after McCarty St\, before 610 East Loop).  U-turn to feeder road heading west.  Turn right on Portwall St (green Houston Food Bank sign)\, turn right into parking lot in front of light green building (same area as HFB trucks and loading docks).  Park at the far end of the lot\, by the main entrance. \nRegister with the Houston Food Bank website for this shift by clicking here (Be sure to save the information for future registration). \nEvery Adult must register in the Food Bank system before volunteering. Please share this HFB Registration Link with adult volunteers to register with our Aggie group. \nIf you have trouble registering online\, or if the HFB website says that a shift is full\, please email William Wade ’73 and just show up anyway! Prior to founding Opportune in 2005\, David was the President\, COO\, and CFO of a consolidation of construction companies comprising the largest residential plumbing and mechanical company in the U.S. with 6\,000 employees in 35 locations. He has over 40 years of professional experience\, over 35 years of which have been spent in the energy industry in various capacities\, including as an investor\, executive officer\, board member\, and consultant. \nDavid began his career at Deloitte & Touché where he became a partner leading the firm’s energy practice. He left Deloitte to be the Senior Vice President & CFO of a publicly-traded exploration and production company where he sourced and closed acquisitions and accessed the public and private capital markets. David has served on the board of directors of North Star Energy\, Marlin Midstream GP\, LLC (MLP)\, AMPAM\, Genesis Energy MLP\, Encore Energy Partners (MLP)\, and ERCOT. \nDavid was appointed as a member of the Texas A&M System Board of Regent by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023. In addition\, he has served on the Dean’s Development Council of the Mays Business School and is the longest-serving member of its Accounting Department Advisory Council. David was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the Mays Business School in 2011. In 2016\, he was recognized by the Accounting Department at the Mays Business School by being named to the initial class of its Accounting Hall of Honor. David graduated with honors with a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University. \nDavid is very involved in the community. He currently serves on the UTIMCO board of directors and previously served on the board of the Houston Methodist Academic Institute\, the Greater Houston Partnership\, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation. \n

Wear your Aggie gear and bring any Longhorns\, other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Tuesday. \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) are welcome. Age Requirements at the warehouse are 6 years old chaperoned\, 15 years old unchaperoned. \nWhen you arrive look for William Wade ’73 who will be fully decked out in Aggie gear including a 12th Man towel. \nWe currently have three shifts available on the 2nd Tuesday: \nMorning Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nAfternoon Shift: 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. \nEvening Shift: 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. \nDon’t forget\, this can be used toward volunteering service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. Anyone that wants to join is welcome. Wear your Aggie gear and bring any Longhorns\, other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Tuesday. \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) are welcome. Age Requirements at the warehouse are 6 years old chaperoned\, 15 years old unchaperoned. \nWhen you arrive look for William Wade ’73 who will be fully decked out in Aggie gear including a 12th Man towel. \nWe currently have three shifts available on the 2nd Tuesday: \nMorning Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nAfternoon Shift: 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. \nEvening Shift: 6:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. \nDon’t forget\, this can be used toward volunteering service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. By registering in the Food Bank’s system\, the hours can be tracked throughout the year and downloaded at any time or pickup the certificate at the end of each shift before you leave. \nNote: As this is a warehouse environment\, everyone must wear closed-toe shoes (no sling-backs)\, long shorts (to the knee) or pants\, and no low cut tops (OSHA regulations).
