Anyone who wants to join us is welcome. So please grab any Longhorns and any other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Saturday morning. \nAggie Volunteer Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nPlease wear Aggie shirts\, hats\, etc so we can find you more easily! Upon arrival\, look for William Wade ’73\, one of our coordinators\, who will be decked out in aggie gear\, including a 12th Man towel. All first-time volunteers receive one of our coveted and stylish Houston Aggie Volunteers t-shirts. \nDon’t forget that this can be used toward volunteering community service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. Volunteer jobs vary in size and scope\, but the vast majority of the work is done in air-conditioned areas and DOES NOT involve substantial lifting. People with all levels of physical ability are welcome \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) and friends are welcome. Since it is a warehouse environment\, everyone must wear closed-toe shoes (no sling-backs)\, long shorts (to the knee) or pants\, and no low cut tops (OSHA regulations). Anyone who wants to join us is welcome. So please grab any Longhorns and any other school’s alumni\, friends\, family or coworkers that are aimlessly wondering what to do on a Saturday morning. \nAggie Volunteer Shift: 8:00 a.m. – Noon \nPlease wear Aggie shirts\, hats\, etc so we can find you more easily! Upon arrival\, look for William Wade ’73\, one of our coordinators\, who will be decked out in aggie gear\, including a 12th Man towel. All first-time volunteers receive one of our coveted and stylish Houston Aggie Volunteers t-shirts. \nDon’t forget that this can be used toward volunteering community service hours for those in high school\, college and other community organizations. Volunteer jobs vary in size and scope\, but the vast majority of the work is done in air-conditioned areas and DOES NOT involve substantial lifting. People with all levels of physical ability are welcome \nFamilies (with anyone age 6 years or older) and friends are welcome. Garner III graduated from Texas A&M in 1979 with a BBA in marketing. He began his career with Hughes Tool Company before joining The Association’s staff as Field Director in 1981. After nearly 18 years of service to The Association\, Porter was unanimously elected by the Board of Directors to lead the organization\, making him only the seventh chief\nexecutive in The Association’s 143-year history. Over the last 22 years as President and CEO\, he has inspired innovation and led initiatives to achieve The Association’s vision to become the premier alumni organization. Under his leadership\, The Association has endeavored to enhance its programs and services\, and broaden its reach and relevance to the worldwide Aggie\nNetwork. Porter serves as a non-voting member of The Association’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee\, working closely with the Board to ensure that donated funds are used in the most efficient and effective ways to benefit Texas A&M and the Aggie Network. Under his leadership as President and CEO\, The Association of Former Students’ total assets have grown from $55 million to $161 million\, and the organization has raised over $400 million impacting Texas A&M and Texas Aggies. Porter serves on the board of Baylor Scott & White Hospital – College Station Region and is only one of two individuals to have been honored with a lifetime membership in the Brazos County A&M Club. Buzbee Endowed Dean’s Chair\, Texas A&M University School of Law \nA graduate of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and Yale Law School\, Robert B. Ahdieh served as law clerk to Judge James R. Browning of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit before his selection for the Honor’s Program in the Civil Division of the US Department of Justice. \nWhile still in law school\, Ahdieh published what remains one of the seminal treatments of the constitutional transformation of post-Soviet Russia: “Russia’s Constitutional Revolution—Legal\nConsciousness and the Transition to Democracy.” Ahdieh’s work has also appeared in the Boston\nUniversity Law Review\, Michigan Law Review\, Minnesota Law Review\, NYU Law Review\, and\nSouthern California Law Review\, among other journals.\nAhdieh’s scholarly interests revolve around questions of regulatory and institutional design\,\nespecially in the financial arena. His particular focus has been on various non-traditional\nregulatory structures and modes of regulation\, including those grounded in dynamics of\ncoordination. Though relatively less studied in the legal literature\, the framework of coordination\nholds significant promise both in helping us theorize existing regulatory patterns and in defining\nnew regulatory constructs for the future.\nAhdieh has served as a visiting professor at Columbia and Georgetown law schools\, as well as at\nPrinceton University. DESCRIPTION:Flags for Fallen Vets \nFlag Placement: On the day before Memorial Day the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of other volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetary. The following Saturday\, rain or shine\, volunteers return to recover the flags\, clean and store them. \nThis year’s Flag Placement will take place on: \nDate: Sunday\, May 29th \nArrival Time: 8:00 a.m. \nFlag Placement: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. (approximately) \nLocation: Houston National Cemetery\, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston\, TX 77038. \nWe will meet and start at Sections U/U1’U2 (at the back of cemetery). Jim Thorpe ’78 will provide you with a map. \nAdditional Information: Please wear your Maroon and White\, bring TOOLS that can make a hole in the ground (e.g. Phillips head #3 screwdriver\, or any rod the diameter of your little finger) and make sure to bring bottled water. \nHAMC has 60 volunteer slots to fill for this year’s Flag Placement. DESCRIPTION:Flags for Fallen Vets \nOn the day before Memorial Day the Houston A&M Club joins thousands of other volunteers to place over 80\,000 flags at Houston National Cemetary. The following Saturday\, rain or shine\, volunteers return to recover the flags\, clean and store them. \nThis year’s Flag Recovery will take place on: \nDate: Saturday\, June 4th \nTime: 9:00 a.m. – Noon (approximately) \nLocation: Houston National Cemetery\, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston\, TX 77038. \nWe will meet and start at Sections U/U1’U2 (at the back of cemetery). Jim Thorpe ’78 will provide you with a map. \nAdditional Information: Please wear your Maroon and White and bring a 5 gallon buckets (or something similar to collect flags)\, rags\, folding or camp chair and bottled water.  \nThere are unlimited volunteer slots for this year’s Flag Recovery. To join us for this special morning of service please contact Jim Thorpe ’78 at thorpejim@comcast.net or 713-249-4678 by Thursday\, June 2nd. \nIf you cannot participate in person\, but would still like to help\, please consider contributing to Flagsforfallenvets.com for the Houston National Cemetery.
