The Houston A&M Club cannot make any guarantees of safety and you are attending at your own risk. \nBarnett “Barney” Gershen ’69  \nBarnett (Barney) Gershen is the founder and CEO of Gershen Consulting LLC in Houston\, TX.  Since 2005\, Gershen Consulting has specialized in providing industry specific advisory\, recruiting\, and investing services to clients across the country (and beyond). \nPrior to becoming an independent consultant\, Barney was Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Associated Building Services (ABS)\, a company he grew from 2 employees to over 13\,000.  The company grew to over $230 Million in yearly revenue (the industry average being $5-10 Million) – making it one of the top 5 independent building maintenance firms in the U.S.  Known for being an innovative\, results oriented company\, specializing in state-of-the-art management leadership\, a successful sale of ABS was completed in 2004 (even though it was “never for sale”).  Barney attributes much of his success to the leadership experience he gained while serving in the Corps of Cadets. \nBarney completed his undergraduate degree in Management with honors at Texas A&M (while appointed as the executive officer of his Corps of Cadets unit)\, and earned his MBA in finance at The University of Texas (his dissertation was on the building services industry).  He served in the U.S. Army (retiring in 1978 as a captain) and completed Owner/President/Management certification at Harvard University later in his career.  Barney was later honored as a distinguished graduate from Texas A&M. \nCommunity involvement is an important part of Barney’s life – To name a few\, he is a founding member of Crime Stoppers and the Holocaust Museum in Houston\, as well as the Building Service Contractors Association International (1965)\, and has served on the board of advisors for the Holocaust Museum and YMCA (including the founding of the downtown Houston YMCA youth program).  Through endowed scholarships at Texas A&M (focusing on the Corps of Cadets and the business school)\, as well The University of Houston\, Barney is involved in giving back to the educational community as well. \nBarney is an avid sportsman and enjoys reading and playing handball.  He also loves traveling and spending time with his wife\, four children\, and seven+ grandchildren! \n

He joined the Houston Texans as the quarterbacks coach in 2023. \nThe Humble\, Texas\, native played in 37 career games at Texas A&M (2006-10) and completed 650-of-1\,109 passes for 8\,011 yards and 67 touchdowns. Johnson was the program’s all-time leader in attempts\, completions\, passing yards and passing touchdowns until QB Kellen Mond broke each of those records from 2017-20. \nJohnson\, who was Second-Team All-Big 12 in 2009\, was teammates with Rams OLB Von Miller and Titans QB Ryan Tannehill when at Texas A&M\, where Tannehill was one of his top receiving targets before he transitioned to quarterback. During his redshirt 2006 season with the football team\, Johnson also played on the basketball team for the 2006-07 season\, appearing in three games. \nJohnson’s NFL playing career\, which started after going undrafted in the 2011 NFL Draft\, included time with Dallas\, Baltimore\, Chicago\, Seattle\, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. \nJohnson arrived in Houston after one season with the Minnesota Vikings as the assistant quarterbacks coach\, a team who finished the season with a 13-4 record and won the NFC North by four games. In 2022\, he helped coach QB Kirk Cousins to the fourth-most passing yards (4\,547)\, fourth-most completions (424) and fifth-most passing touchdowns (29) in the NFL. Cousins became the fifth player in NFL history to complete eight consecutive seasons with at least 25 passing touchdowns\, while his five consecutive such seasons is the longest streak in franchise history. The Vikings’ passing attack helped WR Justin Jefferson earn NFL Offensive Player of the Year\, first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors after he led the league in receptions (128) and receiving yards (1\,809). \nPrior to joining the Vikings\, Johnson spent three seasons (2019-21) with the Indianapolis Colts. In 2019\, he served in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship and spent 2020-21 as an offensive quality control coach. From 2015-18\, Johnson served on the coaching staff at St. Thomas High School in Houston\, Texas\, where he was the assistant head coach/offensive coordinator for his final two seasons. Johnson\, who played in the East-West Shrine Bowl in 2011\, coached in the same bowl in February 2022. \nAfter attending Humble High School\, Johnson was a three-star recruit as an athlete in the class of 2006. Baggett ’81\, Managing Partner\, Opportune LLP\, and Texas A&M Regent \n \nDavid Baggett is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Opportune. Prior to founding Opportune in 2005\, David was the President\, COO\, and CFO of a consolidation of construction companies comprising the largest residential plumbing and mechanical company in the U.S. with 6\,000 employees in 35 locations. He has over 40 years of professional experience\, over 35 years of which have been spent in the energy industry in various capacities\, including as an investor\, executive officer\, board member\, and consultant. \nDavid began his career at Deloitte & Touché where he became a partner leading the firm’s energy practice. He left Deloitte to be the Senior Vice President & CFO of a publicly-traded exploration and production company where he sourced and closed acquisitions and accessed the public and private capital markets. David has served on the board of directors of North Star Energy\, Marlin Midstream GP\, LLC (MLP)\, AMPAM\, Genesis Energy MLP\, Encore Energy Partners (MLP)\, and ERCOT. \nDavid was appointed as a member of the Texas A&M System Board of Regent by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023. In addition\, he has served on the Dean’s Development Council of the Mays Business School and is the longest-serving member of its Accounting Department Advisory Council. David was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the Mays Business School in 2011. In 2016\, he was recognized by the Accounting Department at the Mays Business School by being named to the initial class of its Accounting Hall of Honor. David graduated with honors with a BBA in Accounting from Texas A&M University. \nDavid is very involved in the community. He currently serves on the UTIMCO board of directors and previously served on the board of the Houston Methodist Academic Institute\, the Greater Houston Partnership\, and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation. \n
