Houston Aggie Volunteers are needed to help with the Club's Community Activities around Houston. See below for upcoming events and always check the Events Calendar for up-to-date information.

Caring Aggies Mentoring Program (C.A.M.P.) - Beginning in Fall, 2006, Houston Aggie volunteers adopted third graders in two Houston area school districts to mentor through high school, and see them go to college (TAMU). More volunteers are needed to expand the program to serve additional children. Volunteers are required to attend a training session before assignment to a school group. Some events with the children in the inaugural year include both a Houston Dynamos and Houston Rockets game, participating in an MLK Parade, going to the Rodeo and visiting Sam Houston Park. Houston Food Bank - For over 12 years, the Houston Aggie volunteers have participated in helping the Houston Food Bank. On the first Tuesday of every month, Houston Aggies meet and volunteer at the Houston Food Bank located at 535 Portwall Street (I-10 East Freeway heading east, exit Gellhorn and u-turn, following the green signs) from 6 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. For those who cannot volunteer after work during the week, we also volunteer on a Saturday morning (8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.), once each quarter. This is a great opportunity for Houston Aggies to help the Houston community and meet other Aggies. For more information about the Houston Food Bank, click here: http://www.houstonfoodbank.org/.

MD Anderson Children's Art Project - In October, Houston Aggie volunteers spend several evenings at MD Anderson working on their special Christmas Card project. If you are interested in getting involved, contact Lara Sterzing, VP of Community Relations at lsterzing@yahoo.com. For more information on the Children's Art Project, click here: http://www.childrensartproject.org.

Other Activities - Houston Aggie volunteers have also worked on Habitat for Humanity, Houston International Festival, Keep Houston Beautiful's Adopt-a-Block, and special events such as Wreaths Across America-Houston, Dynamo Charities, Italian Festival, Greek Festival, Houston SPCA telethon, Jerry Lewis telethon, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Houston Museum of Fine Arts and other worthy organizations. If you know an organization that is seeking honest, reliable volunteers, please contact Lara Sterzing, VP of Community Relations at lsterzing@yahoo.com for more information about how the Houston Aggie volunteers can help. Let's show Houston that Aggies can make a difference!
